Mal schnell von A nach B (siehe Karte unten), das hört sich einfach an. Im Prinzip ging es darum, einfach nur anzukommen. Quer durch die niederländisch-deutsche Grenzregion war das Ziel eine ehemalige Kohlenzeche (Sophia-Jacoba, Schacht III), wo wir eine sehr interessante Führung bekamen und dazu noch jede Menge leckere Erbsensuppe. Unser „Kübelmajor“ hat es uns den ganzen Tag gedankt.
A quick drive from A to B (view map below) sounds simple. Basically the challenge was simply to arrive at the given destination. Along the Dutch-German border area this destination was an old coal mine (Sophia Jacoba, Schacht III), where we enjoyed a very interesting tour and lots of tasty pea soup. Our “bucket major” was awfully happy about this all day.
Danach hieß es dann, in der einzig wahren Fahrzeit (nämlich meiner) zum nächsten Ziel zu finden, dem Aussichtspunkt des Braunkohle-Tagebaus in Jüchen-Garzweiler. Hier hielten wir für einen kleinen Imbiss, eine Fotosession vor beeindruckender Kulisse und eine kurze „Auszeit“ für den Kübelmajor.
After this, the next destination was the viewpoint over the open-mining coal fields in Jüchen-Garzweiler, which had to be reached in the only possible driving time (which is mine, of course). There we stopped for some quick sarnies, a photo session at an impressive setting and a short “time out” for the bucket major.

Nach vielen Fotos und einer kleinen Stärkung und versehen mit der nächsten Aufgabe ging es dann weiter zum Schloss Dyck, vielen bekannt von den "Classic Days" im Spätsommer. Natürlich nicht auf dem direkten Weg und garniert mit der Herausforderung, die Kreuze und Heiligenhäuschen am Wegesrand zu zählen.
In Schloss Dyck genossen wir eine Führung durch Herrenhaus und Gärten.
After some nourishing and lots of photos were taken, the tour went on towards Schloss Dyck Castle, known to many for the annual "Classic Days" in late summer. Of course it was not the direct road that was to be taken and that was even having a challenge on top, namely to count all the crosses and images of saints along the way.
In Schloss Dyck we had a guided tour through the manor and the gardens.
Von Schloss Dyck aus ging es dann zurück zum Hotel, in Anbetracht der Jahreszeit wurde den Teilnehmern auf der vierten und letzten Runde auferlegt, so viele verschiedene Feldfrüchte wie möglich zu sammeln. Was da alles zusammenkam ...
