Heute hieß es: ab in die Eifel! Schöne kurvige Strecken und eine tolle Landschaft warteten auf uns. Leider musste die erste Besichtigung im Solarpark Herhahn ausfallen, Weil der Mitarbeiter erkrankt war. So fuhren wir also direkt nach Gemünd ins dortige Gemünder Brauhaus, wo sehr leckere Schnitzel auf uns warteten. Als ehemalige Brauerei werden dort auch süffige lokale Biere serviert, die wir abe aus naheliegenden Gründen nicht würdigen konnten.
Today’s motto was: let’s go to the Eifel region! Nice bendy routes and an impressive landscape were waiting for us. Unfortunately the first visit had to be cancelled due to our guide being ill. So we drove straight to Gemünd where we had a delicious schnitzel at the Gemünder Brauhaus. As it is an old brewery, some tasty local beers are served there, which we sadly had to give a miss due to obvious reasons.
Nachdem dieser ausgiebigen Stärkung fuhren wir ein kurzes Stück über Berg und Tal zum ältesten (und wohl schönsten) Wasserkraftwerk Deutschlands in Heimbach, das wir auch besichtigten.
Being extensively strengthened, we were ready to drive further over hills and through valleys to what is not only the oldest but also probably the most beautiful hydro power station in Germany, located in Heimbach, where we took a guided tour.
Wir fuhren dann zurück nach Norden in Richtung unseres „Basislagers“, leider spielte ainerseits das Wetter nicht mehr ganz so mit, und eine Radfahr-Veranstaltung zwang zu einer Umleitung. Ziel war jetzt der Indemann, ein architektonisches Wahrzeichen der Region an der Inde zwischen Düren und Jülich. Dort gibt es zum Glück auch ein Café …
Now on for a somewhat longer trip back North towards our “base camp”, unfortunately it was getting slightly drizzly and a detour had to be taken due to a cycling event on the way. Our next destination was the Indemann, an architectonical landmark of the Inde region between Jülich and Düren. Luckily, they have a café up there …
Vom Indemann waren es nur noch etwa zwanzig Minuten zurück zum Hotel, nunja, so etwa zwanzig Minuten. Es kam nun aber auf die exakte Fahrzeit an, denn die musste wie schon 2012 exakt so sein wie meine Zeit …
