Die Routen | the routes

Freitag | Friday

As in the year before, our MGs took a break on the Friday and had a rest in the underground car park. We met in the afternoon at our IBIS Hotel to go for a city tour in Strasbourg on land and water. For dinner we had a three course menu at the restaurant La Chaîne d’Or in the old city.

Samstag | Saturday

On Saturday we went on a sat-nav treasute trail. All participants were given a booklet with destinations in the form of GPS-coordinates. Upon arrival a question had to be answered, to get the next coordinates, and then it was “right or wrong?”
The route took us through the northern Alsace and Lorraine to Larochette in Luxembourg, where we spent the night at Maria’s Hotel de la Poste.

Sonntag | Sunday

On Sunday morning the first destination for most of us was the petrol station to top up on cheap Luxembourg fuel. Now we drove the routes I had been looking forward to the most: Northern Luxembourg, the Ardennes in Eastern Belgium and the High Fens. Not to forget the famous “Dutch Mountains” in the South of Limbourg. With a total of 277 kilometres/172 miles this was the longest daily trip on a Niederrhein Tour so far.

And the winners are:

The combination of the correct coordinates and a questionnaire about the landmarks meant that this year Emma and Andy could take the trophy home with them.
