Straßburg ist eine sehr vielfältige Stadt mit einer bewegten Geschichte, von der mittelalterlichen Reichsstadt über die Zeit Ludwigs XIV. zur deutschen Metropole 1871 bis 1918, dann lange Zankapfel zwischen Frankreich und Deutschland und heute verbindende Grenzstadt mit europäischem Flair.
Freitag gingen wir zunächst zu Fuß durch die Stadt, überquerten dabei die Barrage Vauban und die Ponts Couverts um so in das historische Viertel Petite France zu kommen. Vo dort ging es an der Thomaskirche vorbei zum Place Gutenberg und weiter zum Münster. Hinter dem Palais Rohan bestiegen wir dann das Batorama-Schiff und fuhren damit einmal um die Große Insel und weiter zum Europäischen Parlament.
Nach der Schiffstour kehrten wir im Restaurant La Chaîne d’Or ein und danach ging es an den beleuchteten Sehenswürdigkeiten vorbei zurück zum Hotel.

Strasbourg is a very diverse city with an action-packed history. From the medieval Imperial City to the times of Louis quatorze, the German metropolis between 1871 and 1918, becoming the bone of contention between France and Germany. Nowadays it is a connecting border city with European flair.
On Friday, we first went on foot across the Barrage Vauban and the Ponts Couverts to the historic Petite France quarter. From there we strolled along St Thomas’s church to the Place Gutenberg and on to the Cathedral. Behind the Palais Rohan we boarded the Batorama vessel which took us around the Great Isle and then to the European Parliament.
After the boat tour we had dinner at the restaurant La Chaîne d’Or and then went back to the hotel along the illuminated landmarks.
