Diesmal war der Freitag etwas anders als in den Vorjahren, es wurde nicht gefahren! Wir hatten das Jufa Hotel Indeland in Jülich als Basis, und da liegt der Brückenkopfpark gleich nebenan. Die frühen Vögel konnten also einfach hinüber gehen und dort ihrem Spieltrieb freien Lauf lassen. Abends gab es dann Essen vom Büffet im Hotel.
This time, the Friday was a bit different from the previous years, we didn’t have to drive! We were based at the Jufa Hotel Indeland in Jülich, which is situated right next to the Brückenkopfpark. The early birds could just hop over there to play. In the evening, we had a buffet dinner at the hotel.
Samstag | Saturday
Der Samstag stand ganz im Zeichen des Themas „Energie“. Leider musste die erste Besichtigung im Solarpark Herhahn ausfallen, weil der Mitarbeiter erkrankt war. Aber es gab ja noch andere interessante Punkte unterwegs. Außerdem waren alle Mitfahrer gehalten, die Strecke aufmerksam zu verfolgen, da es später noch einen Fragebogen geben sollte …
Glücklicherweise hatten Steffi und Colin Sicherheitshelme organisiert, um den neuen deutschen Bestimmungen für’s Roadsterfahren genüge zu tun.
On Saturday, the tour’s main theme was all about “energy”. Unfortunately the first visit at the solar park Herhahn had to be cancelled due to our guide being ill. But there were more interisting points en route. Also all participants had been instructed to keep an eye on everything to bee seen by the road, as there would be a questionnaire to fill out later …
Luckily Steffi and Colin had organised safety helmets to help us comply to tne new German H&S rules for open top driving.
Der Sonntagmorgen startete mit einer großen Überraschung für mich, zu meinem Geburtstag war mein TF mit Luftballons gefüllt und Glitzerkram überschüttet wordem. Nach dem Frühstück folgte dann das wohl kürzestee Teilstück einer Niederrhein-Tour bisher: nicht einmal 1,5 Kliometer waren es vom Hotel zum Verkehrsübungsplatz, wo wir uns ein paar Stunden richtig austoben konnten.
Im Anschluss ging die Tour dann Richtung Westen nach Gangelt, wo ein Imbiss eingenommen wurde. Von dort hatte ich eine Route über die Nederlande geplant, natürlich mit Dieteren und dem berühmten „Röhr-Tunnel“ (Roertunnel), die uns zum Abschluss des Abends in meinem Heimatort Schwalmtal führte. Hier gab es das traditionelle Linner und daran anschließend unsere Geburtstagsparty.
Sunday morning started with a big surprise for me, for my birthday my TF had been filled up with balloons and covered in glitter stuff. After breakfast we went for probably the shortest leg of a Niederrhein Tour ever: less tham a mile it was from the hotel to the driving training site where we could let our hair down for a couple of hours.
Afterwards, the tour headed West to Gangelt, where we had a coffee break. From there I had planned a route through the Netherlands, of course passing through Dieteren and the infamous “roar tunnel” (Roertunel) on the way. We ended up in my home town Schwalmtal for our traditional Linner and our subsequent birthday party.
Das Gesamtergebnis aus dem Fragebogen vom Samstag und der Fahrleistungen am Sonntag auf dem Übungsplatz ergaben, dass Sandra und Chrisso die diesjährigen Champions wurden.
The combination of Saturday’s questionnaire and the driving “test” at the training site on Sunday meant that this year’s championship went to Sandra and Chrisso.
